Restore, Rehabilitate, Reintegrate
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a science-based medical profession that helps to restore normal movement and function when someone has been affected by injury, illness or disability.
Physiotherapists work to empower individuals to take an active role in their recovery through participation in their treatment with awareness, education, and advice. They also may prescribe movement and exercise rehabilitation and offer manual therapy.
They take a holistic or ‘whole person’ centred approach to health and well-being, helping to optimise and maintain health for people of all ages and also encourage patients to manage pain and prevent disease. You can benefit from physiotherapy at any time in your life.
Physiotherapy is helpful for a wide range of conditions including:
• Musculoskeletal problems: e.g. back, neck, shoulder, elbow, knee and hip pain, muscle imbalance, sports injury etc.
• Poor posture.
• Anxiety, stress and depression.
• Respiratory problems e.g. asthma.
• Neurological conditions e.g. Multiple sclerosis, M.E., Parkinson’s disease.
• Post-operative rehabilitation e.g. hip/knee replacements.
• Osteo/Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I specialise in low back pain and also anxiety and stress management from a holistic perspective.
How does it work?
Each session is an hour-long. The initial session will involve taking a detailed case history, an assessment to highlight the current issues and problems. A treatment plan will be discussed and agreed on between myself and the client.
It is quite likely that you will be asked to remove items of clothing so that the problem area is exposed. If it is a lower limb area and you are more comfortable in shorts then please do bring to the session.
Generally, most clients will receive treatment in the first session. However, there are some circumstances where this may be delayed until the second session. This may include where I feel rehab exercises are the most beneficial and a detailed program needs to be taught and understood for the maximum effective outcome.
Treatments are individually considered for each client with all their needs taken into consideration and may include Physiotherapy Mobilisation techniques, Soft Tissue Work, Myofascial and Trigger Point Therapy, Medical Acupuncture, Cranial-Sacral techniques, Yoga Principles, Pilates and Coaching techniques.
I am passionate about empowering people to help them themselves and be a co-creator on their healing journey.
Physiotherapy & Treatments Costs: Sessions are on a sliding scale of £60 - £80
The sliding scale can be tailored to your financial circumstances, please feel free to discuss with me prior to or at your initial session.
